Kamisama Kiss holds a special place in my heart, as it was my first credited scriptwriting role, and a show I was already familiar with from my Production work. Its setting in a traditional Japanese shrine inhabited by both ancient Japanese spirits and a spunky, down-on-her-luck high schooler required juxtaposing more formal, highbrow vocabulary with the casual phrasing of a modern teenage girl. The contrast made for fun, witty banter between characters who were otherwise worlds apart from one another.
