Hetalia: The Beautiful World and the Hetalia franchise as a whole is international satire at its most unhinged. Countries are personified as humans, bearing all the cultural stereotypes that society identifies them with, for better or for worse. Boisterous America loves burgers, shy Japan is serious and reserved, France can’t get enough of its own beauty, and so forth down the U.N. assembly line.

Being a web series, each episode clocks in at just around four minutes long. That being said, scriptwriting was no easy task thanks to the rapid-fire dialogue and specific voice required to accurately capture each country’s character.
